Role DescriptionSenior Air Quality Engineer – Integrated Sustainability and Compliance (ISC), Novi, Michigan (hybrid). The role involves leading air quality permitting and compliance projects across multiple sectors and collaborating with key clients.
ISC services include Air Quality Permitting and Compliance, Environmental Due Diligence, Environmental Compliance and Assurance, Safety Compliance and Assurance, Digital EHS&S, Industrial Hygiene, Sustainability and Product Stewardship.
Responsibilities- Work directly with key clients and lead Air Quality and Environmental Compliance projects and teams.
- Draft client proposals and manage execution of air permitting strategy, regulatory applicability, emissions inventory development and reporting.
- Drive technical skills development and knowledge sharing to stay at the forefront of Air Quality and Environmental Compliance.
- Interface with clients, prepare proposals and manage execution of air quality and environmental compliance services for industries such as manufacturing, automotive, chemical, transportation, oil & gas.
- Apply federal and state air quality regulations to prepare or manage air permit applications:
Permits‑by‑Rule, minor NSR, FESOP, Title
V, PSD (and PSD avoidance), Non‑Attainment NSR (and NNSR avoidance). - Manage and/or oversee emissions calculations for regulated air pollutants and greenhouse gases for emission inventories and Toxics Release Inventories.
- Lead compliance projects such as SPCC and SWPP Plan development, NPDES permitting, Tier2 reporting, waste management, and environmental compliance program development.
- Partner with the ISC team to provide strategic multi‑disciplined EHS solutions to key clients.
- Support client and business development, focusing on expansion in Michigan and surrounding states.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to ARC’s ISC leadership.
Travel up to 10‑20% for project and client needs, including single overnight trips. Work can be performed from an Arcadis office or remotely.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Air Quality.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in multi‑media environmental compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related engineering field.
Preferred Qualifications
- PE registration or an advanced degree in a relevant field.
