HIL Engineer (Mid–Senior / Lead) Are you looking to work for a company that provides an innovative work environment, and your voice is heard? We have a position for a HIL Engineer (Mid–Senior / Lead) to work onsite with our client in the Novi/Northville MI area. This is a contract/resident engineering opportunity.

What you will be doing:
The HIL Engineer (Mid–Senior / Lead) Designs, develops, and leads Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) validation for EV/HEV drive systems and range extender functions. Owns test automation, system validation, and (for senior candidates) HIL strategy and team leadership.
What you'll need to be successful (must haves):
- Develop HIL plant models (motor, inverter, driveline, battery, REX systems)
- Design automated test cases for torque delivery, regen, faults, and edge cases
- Implement fault injection and validate diagnostics (UDS, DTCs)
- Build and maintain automation frameworks (Python, CAPL, CI/CD pipelines)
- Analyze failures and support root cause investigations
- Maintain HIL rigs, configurations, and test environments
- Senior level) Define HIL strategy, roadmap, KPIs, and mentor team
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred.
- 5+ years of experience in HIL validation for EV/HEV propulsion systems
- Hands-on with dSPACE, NI, or ETAS platforms
- Strong skills in MATLAB/Simulink, Python, and CAN tools (CANoe/CANape)
- Understanding of diagnostics, networking (CAN/LIN/Ethernet), and ISO 26262
- Leadership experience for senior-level candidates
