Novi, Michigan – Project Manager (#1057037)
Manages multiple concurrent transmission electric system capital improvement projects from initiation through completion.
Key Responsibilities- Assemble and coordinate cross‑functional project teams for high‑priority projects.
- Lead teams to achieve project objectives on time, within scope and budget.
- Develop detailed baseline project schedules, identify critical paths and milestones.
- Track and update construction dates monthly in the project schedule.
- Monitor progress and identify at‑risk activities to mitigate schedule delays.
- Facilitate project meetings (status, coordination, scheduling, lessons learned).
- Serve as escalation point for project issues, risks and change requests.
- Resolve issues, escalating concerns to leadership as required.
- Control project costs via monthly cash flow projections, comparing actual vs. committed costs and identifying variances.
- Review construction contractor quotes, issue PO requisitions, approve change orders and invoices.
- Communicate project status, issues and risks to leadership and stakeholders effectively.
- Collaborate with personnel across the company to meet project objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in project and/or construction management in the electric utility industry (or equivalent).
- Transmission electric system capital project experience strongly preferred.
- Or, minimum of twelve (12) years of progressively responsible experience in electric utility construction or equivalent.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, direct and motivate a cross‑functional team.
- PMP certification from PMI preferred.
- Experience creating project schedules using Primavera, Microsoft Project or equivalent.
- Experience identifying alternative solutions and conducting risk assessments.
- Experience coordinating and negotiating with external vendors or third parties.
- Familiarity with electric utility construction processes, substation and line equipment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
- Required to travel on short notice.
- Works independently with minimal supervision in a team environment.
