Position: Project Manager #1057037

Novi, Michigan – Project Manager (#1057037)

Manages multiple concurrent transmission electric system capital improvement projects from initiation through completion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assemble and coordinate cross‑functional project teams for high‑priority projects.
  • Lead teams to achieve project objectives on time, within scope and budget.
  • Develop detailed baseline project schedules, identify critical paths and milestones.
  • Track and update construction dates monthly in the project schedule.
  • Monitor progress and identify at‑risk activities to mitigate schedule delays.
  • Facilitate project meetings (status, coordination, scheduling, lessons learned).
  • Serve as escalation point for project issues, risks and change requests.
  • Resolve issues, escalating concerns to leadership as required.
  • Control project costs via monthly cash flow projections, comparing actual vs. committed costs and identifying variances.
  • Review construction contractor quotes, issue PO requisitions, approve change orders and invoices.
  • Communicate project status, issues and risks to leadership and stakeholders effectively.
  • Collaborate with personnel across the company to meet project objectives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of progressively responsible experience in project and/or construction management in the electric utility industry (or equivalent).
  • Transmission electric system capital project experience strongly preferred.
  • Or, minimum of twelve (12) years of progressively responsible experience in electric utility construction or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, direct and motivate a cross‑functional team.
  • PMP certification from PMI preferred.
  • Experience creating project schedules using Primavera, Microsoft Project or equivalent.
  • Experience identifying alternative solutions and conducting risk assessments.
  • Experience coordinating and negotiating with external vendors or third parties.
  • Familiarity with electric utility construction processes, substation and line equipment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Required to travel on short notice.
  • Works independently with minimal supervision in a team environment.
