OBD Engineer – Energy Systems
Are you looking to work for a company that provides an innovative work environment, and your voice is heard? We have an opening for an OBD Engineer – Energy Systems to work onsite with our client in the Novi/Northville MI area. This is a contract/resident engineering opportunity.

What you will be doing:
The OBD Engineer – Energy Systems Leads On-Board Diagnostics (OBD) strategy and implementation for Energy Systems, ensuring regulatory compliance, system monitoring, and serviceability across EV and PHEV platforms.
What you'll need to be successful (must haves):
- Define and execute OBD strategy for HV battery, charging, thermal, and energy systems
- Ensure compliance with OBD regulations (e.g., J1979, J1968)
- Develop and maintain diagnostic content (Vector .cdd, DTCs, monitors)
- Manage OBD requirements and traceability (e.g., Codebeamer)
- Collaborate with systems, software, and hardware teams on integration
- Develop OBD DVPs and support validation activities
- Drive continuous improvement of OBD processes and tools
- Bachelor degree in Engineering is highly preferred.
- Experience in automotive OBD diagnostics (EV/HEV preferred)
- Strong knowledge of UDS, diagnostics architecture, and regulatory requirements
- Experience with Vector tools and requirements management systems
- Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills
