Hours: 40 Hours – Days

Shift: Days

Location: Columbus Medical Center, Novi

Sign‑On Bonus: $2,000 (eligible candidates)

We are seeking a compassionate and driven Medical Assistant to join our dedicated Oncology team at Henry Ford Medical Center – Columbus. The ideal candidate brings prior MA experience, (Oncology experience is a plus but not required), demonstrates strong time management, and thrives in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.

General Summary

Under direct supervision of the provider and/or nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients. Duties may include: greeting and escorting patients to the exam room, obtaining medical histories, measuring and recording vital signs, preparing patients for an examination/procedure, and assisting the provider during the examination/procedure.

Qualifications

– External Education Required
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Experience Required
  • Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred.
  • Ability to problem‑solve preferred.
  • Possess effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred.
  • EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.
Additional Requirements
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).
  • OR Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one‑year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years.
  • OR Current Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting.
  • OR Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
  • OR Licensed Paramedic/EMT with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
  • OR Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
Certifications/Licensure Required
  • Current BLS‑C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
  • Works in a patient care setting with possible exposure to communicable diseases.
  • Manual dexterity required to complete performance of duties. Walks, stands, stoops, and may require some heavy lifting of patients and/or equipment.
