Job Title
Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of the Department Supervisor and in cooperation with other team members, clean and prepare chassis and fixtures for painting, using air-powered sandblasting and other tools and equipment per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Perform paint prep duties using air-powered sandblasting equipment, grinder, needle-guns, and other powered and hand tools.
Abrade surfaces of metal to remove adhering scale, paint, grease, tar, rust, dirt, etc. to prepare for paint application.
- Inspects item to be painted for proper welds. Removes weld spatter, over-poured refractory, excess weld, sharp edges, and burrs using a variety of tools including a wire wheel, air chisel, electric grinder, or file.
- Mark all mis-welds and any other quality deviations found.
- Disassemble paint and sandblasting equipment and clean equipment using proper solvents and manufacturer prescribed methods.
- Operate and/or use related equipment and tools which may include forklifts, hoists, slings, grinders (portable and bench), hand tools, and a tape measure.
Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, blueprints, work instructions, and procedures.
Maintain level of work performance in accordance with Pratt standards and/or job specifications. Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Good Attendance is requisite for being able to perform the essential functions of this job.

- Must be dependable, open to changes and new ideas, adaptable to new situations and challenges, and use time wisely.
- The ability to satisfactorily work alone, and willingness to work with others respectfully and professionally in a team environment, with reasonable instructions, training, and supervision.
- The ability to accomplish a task with concern for all the areas involved, including the ability to notice inconsistencies/faults in parts, equipment, or production processes to prevent faulty products leaving the facility.
Education and/or
Experience:
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Relevant and recent working experience in an industrial paint environment preferred.
