A well-established tunnelling and construction contractor is looking for reliable and hardworking Steel Fixers to join its team, working safely while delivering high-quality workmanship on reinforced concrete projects.

SALARY: Negotiable

LOCATION: Candidates must be based around the Midlands

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Contract - Construction Industry Scheme (CIS)

This is a great opportunity for a reliable Steel Fixer with strong construction experience, capable of shuttering and concreting.

As the Steel Fixer you will work as part of a site team responsible for positioning and securing steel bars or mesh to reinforce concrete structures.

The Steel Fixer will read and interpret working plans, assemble steel reinforcement and work to a high standard.

Your duties as the Steel Fixer include:

• Work Area Set-Up: Set out the work area using site plans
• Bar and Mesh Preparation: Cut and bend bars or mesh
• Rebar Tying: Tie rebar together with wire, clips or welds to build up sections
• Spacers and Supports: Fit spacers and supports
• Formwork and Shuttering: Fix the wooden formwork and shuttering used to hold setting concrete in place
• Steel Fixing to Bases: Fix steel to concrete bases
• Beam and Slab Installation: Install beams and pre-cast slabs

• NVQ in Steel Fixing preferred
• Valid Blue CSCS Card
• Ability to understand technical drawings
• Extensive construction experience working in a similar role
• Experience tying reinforced steel
• Capable of shuttering and concreting
• Reliable, hardworking and committed to working safely while delivering high-quality workmanship
