The Role
We are looking for an experienced HGV Fitter to join our clients team and take responsibility for the maintenance, servicing and repair of a fleet of LGV and HGV vehicles.
The successful candidate will ensure that all vehicles are maintained to a high standard, comply with Operator Licence requirements, and are safe and roadworthy. The role will also involve preparing vehicles for annual tests and carrying out road tests where required to confirm roadworthiness.
Key Responsibilities
* Repair, maintain and service HGV vehicles and associated equipment.
* Carry out maintenance and repairs on other plant and specialist equipment as required.
* Complete routine servicing and prepare vehicles for MOT/annual testing.
* Diagnose faults and carry out repairs in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner.
* Ensure all maintenance and inspection documentation is completed accurately.
* Maintain accurate service and repair records.
* Record and report vehicle damage, defects and maintenance requirements.
* Ensure inspections and servicing are completed within the required time frames.
* Road test vehicles where required to confirm safety and roadworthiness.
* Work in accordance with all relevant Health & Safety procedures and company policies.

* Maintain a proactive approach to Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
* Comply with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and safe working practices.
* Work cooperatively with management to maintain high standards of HSEQ.
* Take part in relevant training and development activities.
* Adapt positively to new working practices, systems and procedures.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
Essential
* IRTEC certification is essential.
* Good knowledge and practical experience of HGVs and associated equipment.
* Ability to diagnose and repair a range of HGVs and specialist equipment.
* Knowledge of safe loading working devices.
* Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and roadworthiness requirements.
* Ability to work safely, efficiently and with attention to detail.
Desirable
* NVQ qualification in vehicle maintenance or a related discipline.
* HGV driving licence.
* Experience working with specialist plant and equipment.
* Previous experience preparing vehicles for MOT/annual testing.
Working Hours & Environment
Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 5:00pm
A minimum of 45 hours per week.
