Preschool Teacher

Position Summary

Each teaching staff member shall make every effort, within the area of his/her professional expertise, the scope of their certification, to instruct students in their charge in accordance with the preschool curriculum and course of study adopted by the Board of Education. It is the teacher's role to ensure student learning by engaging students with authentic challenges that allow for assessment that measures growth and informs future instruction.

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or University and must possess a Preschool through Grade 3 NJ Certification.

Teacher of the Handicapped / Teacher or Students with Disabilities certificate is preferred, but not required.

• The Preschool Teacher will plan and implement a research-based curriculum aligned with New Jersey Preschool Teaching and Learning Standards. This individual will foster a safe, engaging classroom where children develop foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional learning.
• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with Creative Curriculum and that promote curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
• Utilize developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) to support children's cognitive, social, and motor skill development.
• Establish a warm and structured classroom environment that fosters a love of learning.
• Conduct ongoing assessments to track student progress and tailor instruction accordingly.
• Collaborate with paraprofessionals, preschool instructional coaches, child study teams, other preschool support staff, and families to support student needs.
• Maintain compliance with New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) licensing requirements.
• Participate in professional development and school-wide initiatives.
• Communicates with parents and school personnel to discuss pupil progress when necessary, at the discretion of building administration.
• Conduct parent conferences in accordance with the individual school policy.
• Attend to required records, reports, and other routine matters in an appropriate and punctual manner.
• Attend school related night activities when necessary and according to school policy.
• Identify pupil needs and cooperate with other professional staff members in assessing and helping pupils solve learning, social and attitude problems.
• Group children for instructional purposes or activities so as to enhance pupil performance and provide for individualized needs.
• Uphold and enforce school, administrative, board and state rules, regulations and policies.
• Assume responsibility for any other duties or responsibilities assigned by the Principal/Director of Early Childhood.

Proficient in computer applications pertinent to support the position.
