Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented PCBA Inspector to join our electronics manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs) throughout the production process. Depending on the assignment, you will either perform final inspection on completed assemblies or operate a 3D Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) machine. The ideal candidate has a strong eye for detail, understands electronic component placement and soldering standards, and is comfortable working with precision inspection equipment.

You will play a critical role in catching defects early, maintaining quality documentation, and supporting our team’s commitment to delivering reliable, high-quality electronic products. This position requires the use of magnification tools or inspection equipment and work in a clean, ESD-safe environment. Prior experience in electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, or quality inspection is a plus but not always required — we are happy to train the right candidate.

Duties
  • Perform visual and mechanical inspection of finished PCBAs against engineering drawings, BOMs, and IPC-A-610 workmanship standards
  • Identify and document defects such as solder issues, component misalignment, damage, missing parts, or contamination
  • Verify correct part placement, polarity, and labeling against build documentation
  • Tag, segregate, and route rejected or non-conforming boards for rework
  • Complete inspection records, travelers, and quality checklists accurately for each batch/lot
  • Communicate recurring defect trends to supervisors or engineering for corrective action
  • Perform functional or continuity checks as required by work instructions
  • Set up, program, and calibrate the 3D AOI machine for new board programs and part libraries
  • Load boards and run automated inspection scans following SMT reflow
  • Review AOI-flagged defects (solder bridging, insufficient solder, tomb stoning, lifted leads, component shifts, height/volume errors) and verify true vs. false calls
  • Adjust AOI thresholds/algorithms to reduce false call rates while maintaining defect detection accuracy
  • Maintain machine cleanliness, calibration schedules, and basic troubleshooting of AOI equipment
  • Log inspection results and escalate confirmed defects to rework or engineering teams
Experience / Qualifications
  • Experience with AOI equipment (any brand) preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to read technical drawings
  • Familiarity with IPC standards and ESD handling procedures
  • Detail-oriented with strong quality awareness
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
