Position located in Nyon (Switzerland)

Cobelfret is a well-established group of dry bulk shipping companies with offices in Luxemburg, Singapore, Antwerp and Switzerland. We operate worldwide a time-chartered and owned fleet of about 100 vessels ranging from handysizes to capesizes. For our commercial team in Switzerland (Nyon), we are seeking a dynamic and commercially minded Freight Trader focusing on the supramax and/or panamax segments.

In this challenging role, the Freight Trader is responsible for developing new business and generating sustainable and risk-adjusted trading profits through the fixing, positioning, and optimization of dry-bulk freight exposure. The role contributes directly to the company’s commercial performance by identifying and realizing market opportunities, managing freight risk, and maintaining strong relationships with owners, charterers, and brokers.

Your key responsibilities will be:

• Creating trading opportunities and developing new businesses while continuously monitoring and assessing global freight market conditions.
• Handle the day-to-day chartering of owned and controlled tonnage, as well as spot and COA cargoes.
• Negotiate and conclude charter parties, contracts of affreightment, and period fixtures.
• Maximise earnings on company tonnage through proactive trading, positioning, and collaboration with our operations team.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, agents, owners, and charterers.
• Gather and analyse market intelligence to formulate strategic commercial views.
• Work closely with our global offices and departments to ensure seamless coordination, execution and administration.
• Represent the company in international meetings and events.

Requirements

• You hold a degree in Maritime Studies, Business, Economics, or related discipline.
• You have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in dry cargo chartering or freight trading
  ; a strong exposure to supramax or panamax markets is preferred.
• You have a proven ability to trade, negotiate, and optimise earnings on tonnage and cargoes.
• You have an entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of business development.
• You have excellent communication, networking and interpersonal skills.
• Reliable, proactive, you have strong analytical skills and commercial acumen.
• Familiarity with FFAs and hedging strategies is an asset.
• You are flexible and willing to travel on a regular basis.
