Job Summary
The Substitute Teacher ensures continuity of instruction in the absence of the regular teacher while supporting the Catholic mission of the school. This role maintains a structured, respectful, and faith-centered classroom environment that promotes both academic learning and Christian values.
Job Responsibilities
- Follow and implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher
- Maintain a positive, orderly, and faith-filled classroom environment
- Supervise students in classrooms and during transitions, lunch, recess, and other activities
- Lead students in daily prayer and uphold Catholic traditions and practices
- Encourage behavior that reflects Christian values such as respect, responsibility, and compassion
- Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies
- Adapt instruction as needed to meet student needs
- Communicate with school administration and staff regarding any issues or concerns
- Leave notes for the regular teacher regarding completed work and student behavior
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students at all times
Job Requirements
- Previous experience working with children or in a classroom setting preferred
- Practicing Catholic preferred or willingness to support the mission of Catholic education
- Strong communication and classroom management skills
- Ability to be flexible and respond to changing classroom situations
- Completion of required background check and diocesan safe environment training
