Teacher Aide - Para Educator

Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic School in Lee’s Summit, Missouri, is seeking a paraprofessional educator for its inclusive education program for the  school year. A para educator’s primary role is to offer students an extra level of support and guidance inside and outside of the classroom.

• Assist with instructional support:
  This includes working one‑on‑one with students, preparing classroom materials and other as needed. Implement activities planned by classroom teacher or inclusive education coordinator.
• Bridge communication between classroom teacher and student’s parents by providing a weekly progress report outlining assistance/modifications given for specific classes and subject area.
• Based on child’s SEP (Student Education Plan) and teacher directives, implement modified curriculum activities to meet individual learning goals.
• Provide for student’s social and emotional needs through respite activities and “brain breaks.”
• Maintain records of all activities planned and completed.
• Provide daily records to inclusive education coordinator.
• Attend and participate in professional learning activities as assigned.
• Complete other assigned tasks.

• High school diploma
• Teaching, childcare, or teacher aid experience
• Patience, flexibility, positive attitude
• Familiarity with the Catholic understanding of ministry is an asset.
