As part of the Barth Haas family of companies, Beta Tec gives you the opportunity to join an established team in the ethanol industry that is focused on innovation, collaboration, and delivering meaningful results. If you are looking for a place where your ideas, technical expertise, and energy can make a real impact, Beta Tec offers the chance to be part of forward‑thinking work within a trusted global network.
The Industry Technical Specialist is a customer‑facing, highly technical role responsible for ensuring the successful application of Beta Tec products and services within the ethanol industry. This role provides hands‑on technical expertise to support the sales team and customers in optimizing product performance, deep‑dive data analytics, ensuring fermentation success, and driving customer satisfaction.
Job Requirements
This role provides on‑site technical service to industrial ethanol customers through frequent customer visits, plant trials, process audits, and performance reviews, with a strong emphasis on data‑driven analysis. Responsibilities include supporting field trial setup and optimization, troubleshooting fermentation and process issues, conducting follow‑up calls and regular site visits, and preparing technical trial summary reports, protocols, and fermentation data reviews. A key part of the position is the ability to use programs such as JMP software and statistical methods to analyze plant and trial data, interpret results accurately, and support technically sound recommendations during customer interactions.
The work is centered on field application and technical service in fermentation‑based production environments, with ongoing customer‑facing support as a core expectation. Core activities include evaluating product performance during site visits, identifying root causes of fermentation issues, recommending process improvements, and providing customer training and technical service to support long‑term product success. This role requires strong experience in data analysis, statistical interpretation, and experimental review, along with the ability to translate complex fermentation and operational datasets into clear technical conclusions for customers and internal teams.
The position also involves preparing technical presentations, supporting technical publications and training materials, and documenting technical activities and outcomes in Salesforce. Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Fermentation Science, Biofuels Processes, Biology, or a related technical field, or comparable relevant work experience, along with progressive experience in technical services, laboratory fermentation, biofuels processes, or customer support in the ethanol industry or related industrial biotechnology settings.
Preferred qualifications include expertise in fermentation principles, yeast physiology, biological troubleshooting, contamination control, and fermentation efficiency, as well as proficiency in JMP or equivalent statistical analysis software, Microsoft Office, and CRM systems such as Salesforce. Strong candidates will have hands‑on experience applying statistical analytics, data interpretation, and reporting to plant trials and on‑site technical service work within a regional territory that primarily involves car travel to customer locations.
