- Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed electrical cost estimates for various projects.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineers to gather relevant information and clarify project requirements.
- Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to develop accurate cost projections for labor, materials, and overhead.
- Prepare and present detailed estimates, including breakdowns of costs, to stakeholders and clients for review and approval.
- Conduct market research to stay informed about current pricing trends for materials and labor in the electrical field.
- Review and evaluate subcontractor bids to ensure compliance with project specifications and budget constraints.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to gain a comprehensive understanding of project scope and requirements.
- Maintain organized records of estimates, revisions, and communications for future reference and auditing purposes.
- Provide ongoing support during the project lifecycle, including adjustments to estimates as project scopes evolve.
- Assist in developing and maintaining estimating standards and best practices within the organization.
- Collaborate with the procurement team to ensure timely acquisition of materials and services needed for projects.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying areas for efficiency gains in the estimating process.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical estimating or a similar role within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in using estimating software and tools, such as Bluebeam, Accubid, or similar applications.
- Strong understanding of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
- Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex information clearly.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
- Familiarity with project management principles and practices is a plus.
- Certification as a Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) or similar credential.
- Experience with renewable energy projects or specialized electrical systems.
- Knowledge of construction contracts and legal aspects related to estimating.
- Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) and its application in estimating.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, high-volume estimating environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong mathematical skills for accurate calculations and projections.
- Familiarity with project management software such as Procore or similar platforms.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications effectively.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in electrical construction.
- This position is based in O'Fallon, Missouri, and may require occasional travel for site visits or client meetings.
- Candidates must be eligible to work in the United States, and visa sponsorship is available for qualified individuals.
- The role may involve working extended hours during peak project bidding periods.
