Medical Assistant - Primary Care - Winding Woods
Location: O'Fallon, MO

OverviewUnder the direction of the primary care operations team, the Primary Care Patient Advanced Certified MA works directly with Mercy Primary Care Providers to provide safe, timely, effective, efficient, equitable, patient‑centered care. The MA partners with patients, providers, and other members of the clinical care team to drive quality outcomes for all patients and performs duties consistent with Mercy’s mission, values, and Service Standards.
Responsibilities- Prepare patients for provider visits by completing the Advanced Standard room process, including: entering the chief complaint, taking vital signs, reviewing history and allergies, and completing a thorough medication reconciliation.
- Work the Encounter Guide to help close any open care gaps such as fall risk, depression screening, breast cancer screening, colorectal cancer screening, and diabetic eye exam.
- Recheck elevated blood pressures.
- Complete necessary documentation in Epic for yearly preventative visits.
- Assist with in‑office testing, including but not limited to drawing blood, completing mental status exams, EKGs, walking oxygen studies, and point‑of‑care testing.
- Administer vaccines and other injections within scope of practice.
- Schedule follow‑up appointments as needed per office policy.
- Collaborate with providers and the clinical care team to monitor and coordinate delivery of the care plan.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Must obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- Preferred: 6 months of clinical healthcare experience, preferably in a primary care office.
- Must have active Medical Assistant certification/registration (RMA, CCMA, CMA) and obtain BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
- LPN:
Diploma in Practical Nursing, active LPN licensure, and preferred 6 months of clinical healthcare experience in primary care.
