Overview

The Director
- Business Initiatives will provide project management, oversight and thought-leadership over key EPFP strategic initiatives, projects, and analysis. Manages multiple, large, cross functional and complex projects. May also participate in enterprise projects or efforts. Works with project teams, manages projects, assigns responsibilities, and develops project schedules. Works with leadership to support prioritization and determine and acquire resources needed to accomplish responsibilities.

Responsible for project scoping and budget adherence. Supports business planning requirements including, but not limited to budgeting, scheduling, and workload planning. Delivers high-level communication within EPFP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic planning and leadership for assigned projects and priorities:
    • Develop project charters, establish project work plans, manage project scope, issues, changes, communication, and quality for key strategic initiatives of EPFP
    • Support process for prioritization of overall portfolio of projects within EPFP
    • Provide clear communication as to priorities and responsibilities for work assignments
    • Provide support for EPFP leadership team in developing, tracking and delivering on strategic initiatives and overall performance of team
    • Apply problem solving and decision making, planning, and technical expertise skills to achieve the objective
    • Recommend to and collaborate with leadership in making prudent decisions based on depth of expertise, business knowledge, best practices, and divisional strategic and operational goals
    • Generate practical solutions that achieve the stated objectives
    • Establish and maintain best practices and consistent project and change management policies and guidelines in line with project and change management methodologies
  • Lead multiple, cross-functional projects from beginning to end to enhance the vision and mission of EPFP through providing direction, planning and communication efforts:
    • Support the annual strategy planning processes
    • Collaborate with GFS leaders to provide guidance and insights into development and execution of key initiatives
  • Participate in key unit and ad-hoc department projects as needed
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Candidate Requisites

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 8 years of project management experience, with at least 5 years managing large scale projects
  • PMO and/or portfolio management experience is highly desired
  • Change Management certification and experience would be ideal
  • PMP, FLMI, ACS, or related credentials 6-sigma green belt or above, lean leader, or other experience with process improvement is a desired asset

  • Advanced project management skills; demonstrates ability to evaluate project objectives and scope feasibility, gain understanding, schedule resources, and manage budget to plan
  • Proficient people leadership and informal influence skills in providing direction, coaching, and clearly defining expectations and success criteria
  • High level of investigative, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to partner with leaders to lead, facilitate, and drive to decisions with Executive Management.
  • Previous experience managing cross-functional, moderately large, risky, and complex projects
  • Moderate level of influencing skills, able to lead and motivate without direct reporting relationships, able to negotiate with others to adopt a different point of view
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey difficult concepts using appropriate business terminology that is meaningful and well-received
