Position:Vice President of Safety
PositionDescription:
The Vice President of Safety is the senior leader responsible for developing, executing, and continuously improving PARIC's enterprise-wide safety strategy. This role sets the vision for safety performance, leads the safety organization, embeds proactive risk management into all operations, and ensures regulatory compliance. The VP partners closely with Operations, HR, Risk, and Executive Leadership to drive a culture of prevention, accountability, and operational excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesEnterprise Safety Leadership and Culture
- Establish and execute the company’s safety vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Set and maintain corporate safety policies, standards, and procedures across all business units.
- Champion a values-based, prevention-focused safety culture that engages leaders and employees at all levels.
- Serve as the primary advisor to Operations leadership on safety risks, trends, and strategic opportunities.
- Define leading and lagging safety performance targets (e.g., EMR, TRIR, DART) and ensure organizational accountability.
- Lead company-wide safety communication, campaigns, and recognition programs.
- Ensure meaningful employee involvement in safety committees, initiatives, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Partner with Operations, HR, Risk, and Legal to integrate safety into business planning, training, and performance management.
- Actively engaged in industry associations related to safety (AGC or similar)
- Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety programs (hazard identification, incident management, ergonomics, emergency preparedness, crisis management, etc.).
- Oversee safety management systems (SMS), including risk assessments, audits, inspections, and corrective action tracking.
- Evaluate and deploy safety technologies and tools to enhance data visibility, risk control, and field effectiveness.
- Recruit, onboard, lead, and develop a high-performing safety team.
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and performance expectations for safety staff.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and professional development to build deep organizational safety expertise.
- Manage departmental budgets, resources, and staffing to support enterprise needs.
- Collaborate with Operations Training department and oversee development and delivery of role-specific safety training, coaching, and communication programs
- Develop and maintain safety dashboards and reporting for executive leadership, field leadership and sector leadership
- Use data and analytics to identify trends, prioritize risk‑reduction efforts, and measure program effectiveness.
