Digital Content and Social Media Specialist

Missouri Baptist University seeks a creative, strategic and detail-oriented Digital and Social Media Specialist to help grow the University’s digital presence and engage prospective students, alumni, donors and the broader MBU community.

Reporting to the Director of University Communications, this position develops compelling content for social media and the University’s website that reflects MBU’s mission and values, strengthens brand awareness and tells meaningful stories about the people and experiences that define the University.

Key responsibilities include:

• Develop and execute creative social media strategies, campaigns and day-to-day content across platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Linked In, You Tube and Tik Tok.
• Create engaging written, visual and video content that reflects the MBU brand and encourages audience engagement.
• Write clear, compelling copy for social media, web pages and other digital communications, adapting tone and style for different audiences while incorporating SEO best practices.
• Maintain and manage the University’s social media content calendar.
• Capture and edit photography and video at University events for use across digital platforms.
• Design graphics and other visual assets that align with MBU’s brand standards.
• Help further develop and maintain a consistent visual identity and voice across all digital channels.
• Monitor social media conversations, respond appropriately when needed and identify opportunities to engage audiences.
• Analyze social media and website performance, prepare reports and recommend strategies for continued growth and improvement.
• Stay current on emerging social media platforms, digital trends and higher education marketing best practices.
• Create, update and maintain website content using Word Press, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, strong user experience and search engine optimization.

Qualified candidates will possess:

• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, journalism or a related field.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Strong organizational, planning and project management abilities with the capacity to manage multiple deadlines.
• Creative thinking, sound judgment and strong problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand, represent and strengthen the Missouri Baptist University brand through engaging storytelling and digital content.
• Experience creating content for social media platforms, including photography, video and graphic design.
• Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications (Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) and Canva.
• Experience with photography, photo editing and basic video production.
• Familiarity with Word Press or other content management systems.
• Working knowledge of web content best practices, including SEO, accessibility and user experience principles.
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to cover University events.

• One to three years of professional experience in social media, digital marketing, communications or a related field.
• Experience in higher education, nonprofit or mission-driven organizations.
• Familiarity with social media management and analytics platforms.
