About Pedal the Cause

Pedal the Cause is a St. Louis-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with the mission of providing critical funding for cancer research at Siteman Cancer Center and Siteman Kids is Children’s Hospital through our annual cycling challenge. It is our hope that research funded by Pedal the Cause will ultimately lead to a cure for cancer.

Position Overview

The Events & Volunteer Coordinator plays an integral role in advancing Pedal the Cause’s mission by supporting event execution and growing a strong, engaged volunteer program. This highly collaborative role serves as a key point of contact for participants, volunteers, and community partners, while helping to bring Pedal’s events and programs to life throughout the year.

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on work, is comfortable juggling multiple priorities, and takes pride in creating well‑executed, meaningful experiences that support Pedal the Cause’s mission.

Position Responsibilities Event Operations & Execution
  • Provide hands‑on support across all Pedal events, including signature events and Ride Weekend
  • Manage and maintain event packing lists, inventory, and organization of event materials
  • Assist with event logistics planning, timelines, and vendor coordination
  • Support on‑site execution, including setup, troubleshooting, and breakdown
  • Help ensure a high‑quality, seamless experience for participants, partners, and guests
  • Support the Director of Events in managing the Events Committee, including meeting prep and follow‑up
  • Assist with event documentation and post‑event recaps and surveys to improve future operations
  • Assist with building and tracking event timelines and key deliverables to support successful execution
Volunteer Program
  • Support recruitment, coordination, and stewardship of volunteers across all Pedal events
  • Help grow and diversify the volunteer pipeline, including outreach to community groups and organizations
  • Coordinate volunteer scheduling, communication, and assignments
  • Support development of training materials and processes to build a more structured and scalable volunteer program
  • Assist with management of volunteer leaders, including onsite leaders and group coordinators
  • Provide on‑site volunteer support during events, ensuring a positive and organized experience
  • Represent Pedal the Cause at volunteer fairs, tabling opportunities, and community presentations
  • Support recruitment, coordination, and management of Refueling Station volunteer groups for Ride Weekend and Training Rides
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Refueling Station Leaders
  • Coordinate basic logistics support for Refueling Stations, including packing lists and supply organization in collaboration with the Events team
  • Opportunity to take ownership of and grow key areas of the volunteer program over time
Kids Challenge Program
  • Support planning and execution of the Kids Challenge program and related events
  • Assist with Kids Challenge Kickoff event planning and logistics
  • Help recruit and manage vendors, activity partners, and on‑site activations
  • Support securing and organizing fundraising incentives and prizes
  • Help enhance the overall Kids Challenge experience and growth year over year
In‑Kind Sponsorship & Partner Support
  • Assist in sourcing and securing in‑kind partners to support events and programs
  • Help manage partner relationships, including communication and logistics coordination
  • Support fulfillment of partner deliverables (signage, activation, product placement, etc.)
  • Track in‑kind contributions and assist with recognition and stewardship efforts
  • Collaborate with internal team members to ensure partner integration into events is smooth and impactful
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills, with the ability to represent Pedal the Cause professionally
  • Strong written communication skills and comfort managing a high volume of emails and details
