Job Summary: The Registered Nurse is a professional practitioner who assesses, manages, directs, and provides nursing care during the patient’s hospital stay and coordinates planning with other disciplines using a patient‑centered approach.
Job Responsibilities and RequirementsEssential Functions
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessment and reassessment.
- Conduct age‑appropriate admissions or transfer assessments and obtain family/guardian input.
- Accurately document findings and patient plans of care.
- Assess post‑operative/post‑invasive patients and document education & discharge needs.
- Provide daily patient reassessment and document changes in condition, status, diagnosis, and response to care.
- Develop, coordinate, and evaluate individualized care plans based on assessment data, lab results, physician orders, protocols, and standards of care.
- Identify short‑ and long‑term goals and formulate interventions to achieve desired patient outcomes.
- Incorporate evidence‑based practice into care planning and documentation.
- Collaborate with the health team for daily care coordination and handoff communication.
- Administer medications accurately and document per policies and procedures.
- Monitor and document IV fluids, parenteral nutrition, and other therapies.
- Complete referrals and request consultations as needed.
- Provide patient/family education, discharge planning, and clarify physician orders.
- Apply restraint, pain, and abuse assessment protocols as appropriate.
- Adhere to infection control practices, maintain a safe, clean environment, and follow safety policies.
- Participate in learning and quality improvement activities, including committees, performance improvement, and research.
- Assist in training and supervising new staff and students.
- Maintain licensure, certifications, and mandatory trainings (BLS, HI, TB, influenza, ethics, safety, etc.).

Job Specifications
Minimum Education: Licensed to work as an RN in the state of Missouri.
Working Conditions: May be exposed to blood‑borne diseases, unpleasant elements, emergencies, and irregular hours.
Physical Requirements: Occasional prolonged standing/walking, lifting, positioning, pushing, transferring, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching.
