Bring your leadership skills beyond the bedside in this Full-Time Weekend Option (WEO) House Supervisor opportunity with BJC Health Care.

In this hospital-wide leadership role, you'll serve as the on-site nursing leader, supporting staffing operations, patient throughput, and clinical excellence across Progress West Hospital and Barnes-Jewish St. Peters Hospital.

As a key operational resource, you'll collaborate with nursing leaders, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams while responding to rapid responses, patient concerns, falls, staffing needs, and other hospital-wide priorities. Every shift offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on patient care and hospital operations.

Position Highlights
  • Full-Time Weekend Option (WEO) schedule
  • Night Shift: 3 12s 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM every Saturday and Sunday night
  • One additional night shift per week
  • Fixed/set schedule (non-rotating)
  • Hospital-wide leadership and operational oversight
  • Support staffing coordination, patient flow, and patient safety initiatives
  • Holiday rotation required:
    One summer holiday and one major winter holiday (holiday eve and/or holiday day) annually.

Preferred Experience
  • 2–4+ years of acute care RN experience
  • Previous Charge Nurse or House Supervisor experience preferred
  • Strong leadership, communication, and critical‑thinking skills
  • Experience managing patient flow, staffing, and operational challenges
  • ACLS preferred
  • BSN preferred

Overview

Opened in 2007, Progress West Hospital is BJC Health Care’s newest hospital in St. Charles County, featuring modern private rooms. It offers 24‑hour emergency services and has partnered with St. Louis Children’s Hospital to provide world‑class pediatric emergency care.

Progress West Hospital also provides surgical services, endoscopy services, a cardiac catheterization lab, medical/surgical inpatient services, diagnostic imaging, lab services, and the Advanced Wound Center, a specialty wound treatment facility with state‑of‑the‑art equipment. Progress West Hospital recently completed an expansion of its Childbirth Center to include enhanced services for at‑risk mothers and babies, with a newborn ICU that provides care for babies born as early as 32 weeks.

Progress West Hospital is a Certified Level II Stroke Center. The hospital’s medical office building houses offices for specialists in primary care, cardiology, obstetrics, pediatrics, and orthopedics.

Nursing Resources supports administration and other leaders of the organization in ensuring the daily operations of the hospital run efficiently. This area, along with all departments within the hospital, supports the guiding principles of the hospital in providing care that is customized and reflects the patient's needs, values, and choices.

Preferred Qualifications

The House Supervisor is delegated the authority and responsibility for administrative supervision of patient care and other hospital departments, serving as a representative of Administration in the absence of the Administrator during off shifts. Acts as a liaison with departments and/or consults with Administrator on call to handle unusual circumstances, appropriate resources, and investigate and resolve clinical problems/complaints.

Responsibilities
  • Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: hires, trains, assigns work, manages & evaluates performance, conducts professional development plans. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
  • Supervises the delivery of safe and appropriate patient care across the organization. Effectively responds to special circumstances and acts as the on site leader.
