Job Overview

Hawthorn Children’s Psychiatric Hospital provides specialized care for children and adolescents diagnosed with mental illness. We seek a positive and energetic Registered Nurse (RN) who is passionate about helping young patients reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

This professional RN position is a core member of the medical treatment team and includes:

  • Reviewing medical records and assessing the provision of medical care by facility staff.
  • Coordinating assessments from other disciplines and overseeing incident reporting, investigation, and discharge planning.
  • Supervising and reviewing the work and documentation of LPNs, nursing assistants, and other technical personnel.
  • Providing public health services such as assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation, and case management within the community.
  • Mentoring or overseeing other RNs during shifts.
  • Engaging in quality‑improvement activities, such as analyzing data and trends of specific health indicators to recommend improvement measures.
Qualifications

Typical qualifications include:

  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse.
  • 0–3 years of experience as an RN.
  • Current nursing license to practice in Missouri (or pursuant to Missouri’s Nurse Licensure Compact).
  • Knowledge of current professional nursing theory, practices, and standards.
  • Ability to administer detailed therapeutic prescriptions under general professional supervision.
  • Proficiency in supervising, evaluating, and instructing professional and paraprofessional nursing staff.
