Job Overview

Orthopedic Surgery Charge Nurse (RN) – Team Lead/Charge Nurse Ortho/Surg Nights in O'Fallon, Missouri. The role involves mentoring staff, overseeing night‑shift operations, ensuring quality of patient care, and supporting bedside staff with clinical and administrative tasks.

• Lead the unit on a designated shift, acting as a clinical resource to nursing and support staff.
• Assess, plan, evaluate, and document the nursing process as needed.
• Mentor bedside staff and facilitate throughput by expediting discharges and admissions.
• Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and conduct in‑moment audits to ensure accurate documentation and appropriate care.
• Educate patients and families on post‑treatment home care and medication administration.
• Develop and implement individual care plans collaboratively with the healthcare team.
• Promote patient‑ and family‑centered care in a healing environment.
• Monitor patient responses and modify plans of care as necessary.
• Support professional development of unit staff.

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required.
• Education:
  
  Nursing Diploma or Associate’s Degree in Nursing;
  Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
• Experience:
  
  2–5 years nursing experience, preferably in orthopedics or surgical settings.
• Supervisor or leadership experience not required but beneficial.
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and evaluation skills.
