Position: Maintenance Worker I - Landscape

Are you passionate about working in the outdoors and eager to work in the beautiful city grounds of O'Fallon? The City of O'Fallon is seeking a knowledgeable and dependable full time
Maintenance Worker I to join our Parks Department's Landscape Division. If you have experience maintaining flowerbeds, shrubs, trees and working in greenhouses, and are looking for a stable, year-round opportunity, we'd love to hear from you! Our Maintenance Worker I employees earn competitive pay of $22.44 to $33.66 hourly (top of grade) with an expected starting rate of $22.44 hourly, depending on qualifications and experience.

Generally, your schedule will be Monday - Friday from 7 am to 3:30.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operates assigned vehicles, mowers, equipment and hand and power tools.
  • Assists with horticulture practices related to the cultivation of flowers, shrubs, trees and turf, including pruning, planting, fertilization, integrated pest management, and irrigation.
  • Assists in the installation and maintenance of landscape beds.
  • Assists with greenhouse operations and in the implementation of an integrated pest management program.
  • Assists in the implementation of an annual plant nutrition program.
  • Assesses, operates and services irrigation systems.
  • Assists in the preparation for festivals and special events.
Qualifications & Skills

We're looking for candidates who have:

  • Knowledge of equipment operation and maintenance procedures, including landscape management principles.
  • Experienced in relevant horticulture principles and practices, such as installing landscape beds.
  • Experienced in the operation of landscape tools and equipment.

Requirements
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs over 100 feet.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in various weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow).
  • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid commercial driver's license (Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement.)
    Paid CDL Training Program available to new hires that do not currently have a CDL.
