The City of O'Fallon, MO is looking to hire a full time Utility Worker I for our Collections Crew. The Utility Workers earn competitive hourly rates from $25.98 to $38.97 (top of grade) with an expected starting salary of $25.98

As part of our Water and Sewer Division, you will be responsible for participating in the work of an assigned crew of personnel engaged in the maintenance and repair of the sanitary sewer collection system. Generally, your schedule will be daytime hours Monday through Friday, but overtime hours may be required occasionally. WHAT'S YOUR DAY LIKE?

As a Full-Time Utility Worker I in the Collections Crew, you'll engage in a wide range of vital tasks that keep our community thriving. This role involves troubleshooting, operating, and repairing sewer lift stations, plumbing, and electrical systems, ensuring optimal functionality. You'll also maintain and repair various machinery and equipment, as well as weld and fabricate essential parts and tools. You'll also assist in inspecting new lines and locating existing water and sewer lines.

In addition to repairing water and sewer lines, valves, and manholes, you'll address customer complaints effectively and uphold the cleanliness of facilities, lagoons, and grounds. Responding to emergency situations and participating in snow removal operations are crucial aspects of this position.

What we're looking for in a Utility Worker I - Collections Crew

To excel as a Full-Time Utility Worker I in our Collections Crew, you'll need a blend of technical and practical skills. A solid understanding of safety principles is essential, particularly regarding trench safety, confined space entry, and competent person duties. A high school diploma or GED is required, and applicants must possess or be able to obtain a valid Class A commercial driver's license with a tanker endorsement issued by the State of Missouri.

Paid CDL Training is available to new hires that do not currently have a CDL.

Additionally, acquiring a Class A Collections System Operator Certification or Class III Distribution Certification demonstrates your commitment to excellence in this field. You should be prepared to be on-call during evenings and weekends on a rotating schedule. In this position you will be working outside in all types of weather. Comfort with working in confined spaces, as defined by OSHA regulations, is also necessary for success in this role.
