POSITION PURPOSE/
SUMMARY:
To provide staff and students with an attractive, comfortable, and safe environment in which to work and learn.
The Electrician Journeyman must have a minimum of one-year experience in the electrical field. The experience may be substituted in lieu of certification in an electrical field.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Repair and maintain all electrical systems and needs for the district.
- Use and operate all tools, and vehicles needed to maintain, and service district buildings.
- Cut, bend, run, install electrical conduit, pull wire, etc.
- Perform any evening emergencies related to the electrical field (emergency lighting, exit signs, etc.).
- Troubleshoot electrical problems that could occur.
- Be knowledgeable with different electrical voltage and phases, (110, 220, 480, etc.).
- Repair and troubleshoot intercoms, fire alarms, and low-voltage equipment.
- Perform electrical repairs and any other work needed as directed by the maintenance foreman.
- Maintain accurate record keeping and inventory to allow work orders to be completed in an accurate, efficient, economical, and quality manner.
- Assist in loading and unloading materials, equipment, and supplies from trucks.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and have the ability to reason and make appropriate decisions. Must be able to work well under pressure and negotiate conflict situations as they arise.
PHYSICAL DEMANDSWhile performing these duties, the employee is regularly required to reach, climb, bend, stand, and walk. The employee continuously uses hand strength to grasp and use tools and climb ladders, as well as to use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk and hear. The employee must normally lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift, move, push, or pull up to 100 pounds.
ENVIRONMENTALCONDITIONS
The employee will occasionally work in conditions of extreme heat or cold. This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENTEmployment will be on an at-will basis for 12 months with two weeks vacation, beginning July 1, or from the time of employment for the duration of the school year with prorated vacation and/or personal leave. Each maintenance employee will be provided a work calendar showing the specific daily work schedule of the employee. The work calendar may be modified by the Board of Education at any time, as needs dictate.
Eight and one-half hours (including a 30 minute non-paid lunch period) will constitute a workday. The Chief Human Resources Officer will establish a definite daily schedule. The yearly salary will be disbursed in twenty-four (24) equal payments.
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.
