Building Maintenance, Maintenance Worker
Woodard & Curran is seeking a Utility Worker to join the Customer Service Department at the Public Water Supply District #2 / East Central Missouri Project. The role involves changing out or repairing water meters, meeting with customers about water and sewer issues, locating water and sewer lines throughout the district, performing operations and maintenance, and other customer‑service related duties as required by the contract.
TypicalTasks
- Responsible for the installation of water meters in the district.
- Manage water meter inventory.
- Troubleshoot routes and water quality issues.
- Participate in on‑call rotation.
- Read meters.
- Maintain communication with project personnel.
- Perform preventive maintenance on equipment.
- Conduct utility locates.
- Process service orders.
- Comply with all company health and safety procedures.
- Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Word, Excel, maintenance management programs and other job‑related systems.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum three years of professional experience in customer service operations.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Successful candidates must complete a background check, pre‑placement physical and drug screen before employment.
The duties are performed primarily in an outdoor environment but may also be performed indoors. Employees work in conditions that can include dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, temperature extremes, noise, hazardous materials, machinery, moving mechanical parts, vibrations, electric currents, traffic hazards and water hazards.
- May require an irregular work schedule and overtime hours.
- May require work in confined spaces, on ladders and rooftops, and adverse weather conditions.
- May require manual lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects up to 40 pounds.
- May involve standing, walking, bending, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing stairs and ladders; continuous or repetitive arm and hand movements; occasional forceful exertion.
- Must perceive and discriminate colors, sounds, odors, depth and visual cues.
- Must operate standard office equipment, including computer terminals and telephones.
- May require hearing protection and the use of respirators.
- May involve working in inclement weather conditions.
- May require on‑call responsibilities.
Hourly: $27.50 – $35, depending on qualifications and experience.
