MAINTENANCE WORKER I - STORMWATER
The City of O'Fallon, Missouri is looking to hire a reliable Maintenance Worker I for our Stormwater crew. This position earns competitive hourly rates from $24.74 to $37.11 (top of scale). Your first year you can expect to make a starting rate of $24.74 hourly.
As part of our Street Division, you will be responsible for assisting in the maintenance and repair of the City's storm infrastructure. Your schedule will be daytime hours Monday through Friday, with required shifts during winter street clearing events.
To excel in this role, strong problem‑solving abilities, physical stamina, and dexterity are essential. Tasks include repairing storm sewer structures, excavating underground pipes, and operating heavy equipment such as excavators and backhoes. Daily duties also involve inspecting and cleaning stormwater systems, ensuring optimal performance, filling sinkholes, and cleaning high‑flow areas after rainstorms.
Other responsibilities that are regularly performed in this role include:
- Performing dye tests of storm sewer structures to ensure proper water flow.
- Repairing driveways and yards.
- Cleaning basins and unclogging storm lines.
We are looking for someone who has knowledge of the maintenance and repair of municipal stormwater systems. While a CDL is a plus, O'Fallon's in‑house training program will prepare the right candidate to take the test. In this position, workers can expect to be exposed to noise, dust, dirt, grease and machinery with moving parts that require protective gear such as masks, goggles, gloves, etc.

Requirements include:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL). In‑house training to obtain your CDL is provided.
