Senior Platform Engineer at Mastercard – a global technology company operating in the payments industry. The role is part of the Azure Platform Engineering team on the Cloud Platform.
On the Cloud Platform team, you will work with Mastercard’s Azure Platform Engineering team to develop best‑of‑breed Azure Platform capabilities for application development teams. The team delivers automated cloud infrastructure so that software engineering and operations teams can focus on building and delivering value.
Responsibilities- Implement solutions to manage Mastercard’s Azure infrastructure via code.
- Engage and improve the lifecycle of the Azure platform and services – from development to deployment, operation, and refinement.
- Scale systems sustainably through automation and drive changes that improve reliability and velocity.
- Design and develop scalable platform solutions.
- Practice sustainable incident response and blameless post‑mortems.
- Design, develop, and implement software systems and applications on the Azure platform.
- Establish and enforce Azure cloud best practices, standards, and governance.
- Stay updated with the latest Azure updates, features, and capabilities.
- Contribute to architecture, process, and development discussions.
- Assist in application deployment, scaling, and performance tuning on Azure.
- Experience in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
- Hands‑on experience with Azure infrastructure provisioning via automation tools such as Terraform.
- Proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Java, Go, Bash, etc.).
- Familiarity with Dev Ops tools such as Azure Dev Ops, Jenkins, Bit Bucket, Artifactory, and Sonar Qube.
- Knowledge of best practices for logging, monitoring, and alerting solutions.
- Experience with software deployment and configuration automation.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- Expertise in designing, analyzing, and troubleshooting large‑scale systems.
- Strong debugging, code optimisation, and automation skills.
- Systematic problem‑solving approach with effective communication and a proactive mindset.
- Understanding of Windows and Linux operating systems.
Compensation is competitive and based on location, knowledge, skills, and experience. The salary range for this role in O’Fallon, Missouri is $96,000 – $163,000 USD. Eligible employees may also receive annual bonuses or commissions.
