Overview

Mastercard's Network & Digital Payments group creates valued experiences for consumers, and enables merchants and issuers to reach consumers in ways not possible in the pre-digital world. The global product engineering team is responsible for development of a suite of foundational payment solutions. As a Senior Engineer, You Will

* Design, develop, and maintain robust and scalable backend services using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices architecture.

* Deploy, manage, and optimize applications running on PCF, Kubernetes, and cloud-native environments.

* Develop engaging and responsive user interfaces using modern front-end frameworks such as Angular or React.

* Participate in Proof of Concepts (PoCs) and contribute to the evaluation and selection of vendor solutions, technologies, frameworks, and engineering methodologies.

* Write clean, maintainable, well-documented, secure, and testable code following engineering standards and best practices.

* Collaborate with product managers, designers, architects, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.

* Lead and participate in code reviews, promoting engineering excellence, maintainability, secure coding practices, and adherence to architectural standards while helping other engineers improve technical quality.

* Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across applications, services, and infrastructure while driving root-cause analysis and long-term corrective actions.

* Ensure adequate test coverage through unit, functional, integration, and performance testing practices.

* Contribute to and influence the architecture and design of software systems, ensuring scalability, resiliency, maintainability, and security.

* Analyze application performance, conduct scalability assessments, identify bottlenecks, and implement performance tuning strategies to optimize system reliability and efficiency under varying workloads.

* Apply secure coding standards and security best practices throughout the software development lifecycle, proactively identifying and remediating security vulnerabilities.

* Design and implement observability, monitoring, logging, and operational readiness capabilities to support system reliability, supportability, and incident response.

* Mentor junior engineers, share technical expertise, and provide guidance on engineering best practices.

* Work in an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and continuous improvement activities.

* Strong proficiency and experience in Full Stack Software Engineering.

* Strong proficiency in Java and Spring Boot framework development.

* Experience designing and developing scalable microservices-based solutions.

* Experience with PCF, Kubernetes, Docker, or similar cloud-native platforms.

* Solid understanding of front-end engineering principles and experience with Angular or React.

* Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and JQuery.

* Experience with relational databases such as Oracle or PostgreSQL and the ability to design efficient, optimized data access solutions.

* Experience with RESTful API design and development.
