Service Route Operator
The City of O'Fallon is seeking a dedicated and safety-focused Service Route Operator to join our Environmental Services Department. This position plays a vital role in ensuring our community receives efficient, reliable solid waste collection along established routes.
What You'll Do
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment
- Operate refuse trucks to collect refuse, recyclables, yard waste, and bulk waste
- Clean, deliver, and assemble refuse and recycling containers
- Conduct preventive maintenance and routine cleaning of vehicles and equipment
- Assist with snow removal operations
- Provide excellent customer service and complete related duties as assigned
What You'll Bring
- Knowledge of solid waste collection methods and equipment
- Understanding of departmental procedures and safety regulations
- Ability to read maps and understand city geography
- Skill in operating refuse trucks and troubleshooting basic vehicle issues
- Ability to complete assigned routes efficiently and safely
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- One to two years of relevant experience or completion of an apprenticeship/internship
- Ability to obtain a valid Missouri Class B CDL with airbrakes
