Senior Staff Accountant

Our client, a growing organization based in Oak Brook, IL, is adding a Senior Staff Accountant to their close-knit accounting and finance team. This is a newly created position - an excellent opportunity to make your mark, build processes from the ground up, and grow alongside the business. You'll work directly with senior leadership and have meaningful visibility into the full accounting cycle.

• Prepare and post journal entries to support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close
• Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Assist with the preparation of internal financial statements and management reports
• Support the annual audit process by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and areas for process improvement
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Help document and strengthen internal controls and accounting policies
• Take on special projects and ad‑hoc analysis as the company continues to grow

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required)
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience (required)
• Strong understanding of GAAP and the full accounting cycle
• Experience managing month‑end close responsibilities independently
• High proficiency in Microsoft Excel; ERP experience a plus
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills
• Comfortable working in a small‑team environment where flexibility and initiative are valued
