Staff Accountant

Description

Robert Half is looking for a Staff Accountant for a client in the western suburbs. This role supports the preparation of accurate financial reporting across multiple entities and contributes to the close cycle, audit coordination, and ongoing analysis. The position offers strong exposure to corporate accounting, cross-functional collaboration, and process enhancement within a complex investment-focused environment.

Responsibilities:

- Manage monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities for corporate records and related entities, ensuring deadlines and reporting standards are met.

- Prepare consolidated financial statements, internal reporting packages, and analytical summaries used to support business decisions.

- Review general ledger transactions and account activity to confirm accuracy, completeness, and proper accounting treatment.

- Assist with annual external audit activities by developing supporting schedules, organizing documentation, and responding to information requests.

- Perform variance analysis by comparing actual results to budget and prior periods, and highlight meaningful financial trends.

- Contribute to budgeting, forecast updates, cash flow reporting, and selected tax-related calculations as needed.

- Recommend and support improvements to accounting workflows, documentation, and internal control procedures to strengthen reporting quality.

- Work closely with finance, asset management, and other internal teams to resolve issues, support entity consolidations, and complete special projects.

This role offers a salary range of $85,000-$105,000 plus bonus and comes with a full benefits package including:

Requirements - Bachelor's degree in Accounting or comparable experience in a related field.

- 3-7 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.

- Background in financial statement preparation, multi-entity consolidations, and audit support.

- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and core accounting principles.

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis, lookups, and complex workbook functions.

- Experience with general ledger processes, journal entries, month-end close, and financial analysis.

- Familiarity with accounting platforms such as Yardi or similar systems is preferred.

- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
