Overview

A fast-growing advanced nuclear energy company is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to play a key role in the design and deployment of next-generation reactor technologies. This position offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge, near-term commercial nuclear systems within a highly technical and regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, specify, and test I&C systems, including PLCs, DCS, and SCADA
  • Develop control system architectures, wiring diagrams, and functional specifications
  • Integrate I&C systems with electrical, mechanical, and safety systems
  • Perform Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and I&C-related risk assessments
  • Support commissioning, troubleshooting, validation, and system upgrades
  • Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to meet safety and regulatory standards
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and reports
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of experience (or M.S. with 8+ years) in I&C system design and implementation
  • (nuclear, energy, aerospace, or other highly regulated industries preferred)
  • Strong proficiency in PLC programming, control logic development, and instrumentation selection
  • Working knowledge of IEEE, ISA, NRC, and related I&C standards
  • Familiarity with industrial control system cybersecurity best practices
  • Experience with project and contract management is a plus
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure preferred
