Job PurposeThis position is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for Engine, Axle & Transmission for North America. The role ensures competitive cost, high quality, reliable delivery, and strong technology performance across the supply base while supporting new product development, continuous improvement, and risk‑mitigation initiatives. The Specialist Buyer must be highly self‑driven and proactive, with the ability to independently manage large, strategic, and complex suppliers.
The role works closely with Engineering, Logistics, Program Management, Manufacturing, Quality, and Global Procurement teams to source components that meet technical specifications, regulatory requirements, and long‑term business objectives. This position drives supplier negotiations, manages long‑term relationships, delivers cost‑reduction pipelines, supports localization opportunities, monitors supplier performance, and contributes to overall Powertrain sourcing excellence.
Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Development
- Analyze cost trends and new product offerings to identify and deliver purchasing cost reductions.
- Identify, evaluate, and manage suppliers focused on long‑term value, innovation, and service.
- Support supplier audits, performance reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure supplier capacity aligns with CNH Industrial’s demand forecasts.
- Partner with Engineering on design changes, NPI programs, and sourcing transitions.
- Lead negotiations on pricing, commercial terms, and long‑term agreements.
- Develop and execute cost‑reduction initiatives across assigned commodities.
- Collaborate with Finance and Engineering to establish cost targets and maintain benchmark pricing.
- Represent Purchasing in design reviews, technical discussions, and program meetings.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Logistics, and Finance to support on‑time, cost‑effective project execution.
- Provide purchasing leadership for RFQs, product development projects, and supplier changes.
- Address supplier quality, delivery, and payment issues in collaboration with internal teams.
- Resolve complex supplier escalations involving commercial, operational, or capacity challenges.
- Build and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with key suppliers for the North American region and align with the Global team to ensure unified strategic direction.
- In partnership with Procurement and Supplier Quality, set expectations for and review supplier performance across quality, delivery, cost, and compliance metrics.
- Effectively manage high‑visibility suppliers, rapidly resolving issues and leading critical negotiations. Stay closely aligned to on‑ground developments to brief and advise CNH leadership on executive‑level topics, often on short notice.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Engineering, Business, or related field.
- 8+ years of procurement or commodity management experience, preferably in off‑road, automotive, or heavy‑equipment manufacturing.
- Experience managing large, strategic, and high‑complexity suppliers.
- Proven success in global sourcing, supplier negotiations, and cost optimization within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong negotiation and contract‑management skills with experience in global sourcing, supplier development, and managing mechanical‑component supply bases in complex supply chain environment.
- Self‑driven with strong ownership, able to independently drive actions, timelines, and supplier accountability.
- Analytical and problem‑solving abilities, including proficiency with Excel, Microsoft software and data management.
