HBK Engineering is seeking a Senior Licensed Professional Engineer to join our team. This role requires a valid PE license, though 10+ years of significant engineering experience may be considered in lieu of licensure. This position leads, supports, and directs teams consisting of engineers, designers, and staff involved in the delivery and execution of project work, from design and analysis to the day‑to‑day management of direct‑report team members.

Chicago, Oak Brook, and Geneva, IL

• Within the HBK Organization, a Senior Engineer’s role is the day‑to‑day management and development of direct report team members as well as the delivery and execution of project work.
• A Senior Engineer is responsible for directing and coordinating technical activities related to project execution and delivery. The Senior Engineer’s role requires a thorough understanding of both the technical and financial aspects of HBK’s work.
• The Senior Engineer may specialize in a sub‑field within their area of expertise to align with long‑term industry trends.
• A Senior Engineer is required to be adequately technically competent to train and monitor team members in the performance of their duties.
• Independently applies extensive and diversified knowledge of principles and practices in broad areas of assignments and related fields.
• Uses advanced techniques in the modification or extension of theories and practices of sciences and disciplines to complete assignments.
• Works on a major project or several projects of moderate scope with complex features.
• Reviews complete project documents for conformity and quality assurance.
• Develops new techniques and/or improved processes, materials, or products.
• Assists in the training and mentoring of team members within their teams.
• Completes Timesheets in a timely (daily) and accurate manner.
• Obtains an in‑depth understanding of their reporting manager’s expectations and project team structure.
• Measures personal performance.
• Provides feedback and performance indicators to their reporting manager.
• Sets goals with their reporting manager for professional development and monitors progress towards these goals for self.
• Assists their reporting managers by bringing attention to issues or potential issues and addresses concerns that may affect safety, budget, deadlines, or clients adversely.
• Establishes positive relations within the project team(s) and with supporting groups within the company.
• Takes a leadership role in company sponsored events and HBK Impact programs.
• Acts as a role model and sets the example of positive performance for team members.
• Drives continuous improvement and innovation across the organization.
