The Commodity Sourcing Specialist - Metallic is an individual contributor role that collaborates with suppliers for assigned items, supplies, and/or materials for assigned group or platform within our purchasing function.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement sourcing strategies for the Casting commodity, oversee supplier selection across multiple platforms, lead long‑term contract negotiations and launch targets on time.
- Analyze and evaluate external price trends and new product offerings to reduce overall purchasing costs.
- Collaborate with suppliers to assure the quality of their products, materials, components, and/or operations and develop supply recommendations.
- Ensure suppliers can meet forecast demand.
- Coordinate efforts in the reduction of purchasing/engineering costs and establish costs for new products. Continuously explore cost‑improvement ideas through VA/VE in close coordination with suppliers.
- Participate in design and/or technical reviews. Must understand the technical aspects of casting machined parts and convey the requirements to suppliers.
- Actively interview current and new suppliers to maintain a competitive supply base, may select, recommend, and manage relationships with major suppliers, vendors, or sub‑contractors to ensure the organization receives satisfactory service standards.
- Resourcing parts strategically to obtain the best total cost, quality, and delivery for the plants.
- Manage key supplier relationships, conduct monthly/quarterly business reviews with key suppliers and generate ideas of cost improvement through regular involvement from suppliers.
- Other related duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (Engineering preferred).
- A minimum of 6+ years of relevant experience.
- Deep understanding of casting processes, materials, and market trends to ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency. In‑depth knowledge of the casting market regionally and globally.
- Experience in purchasing casting, capable of performing techno‑commercial analysis of casted parts, tooling cost, and methodologies to be used.
- Ability to provide support with expertise on casting processes to other buyers across the commodity team.
The annual salary for this role is $87,000 – $133,000 plus any applicable bonus (actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors such as skill, experience, and qualification for the role).
