Test Technician

Location:

Elmhurst, IL — ONSITE
Length: 12 months – possible CTH

This role is responsible for conducting tests of Clients products that consist of mechanical,electromechanical, electronic, firmware and software features for product development. This includes product functionality testing, environmental testing, sound and vibration testing,software feature debugging, EMC, ESD, EFT, power surge, radio frequency, and radiated emission to client, IEC, FCC and UL regulatory requirements. The tech must also have the ability to read
and interpret product test procedures, build PC boards and use electro-mechanical fixtures alongwith documenting, analyzing and summarizing results to such requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Set-up and execute testing per written or verbal plans of client products, record, analyze and communicates test results, tracks defects, estimate test effort, participate gauge R&R studies and adhere to lean 6S standards
  • Participates as a team member with engineering to track and maintain test work schedules on multiple projects
  • Records, prepares and reviews test results for projects as assigned
  • Operates a variety of computer automated and manual test equipment including data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, RF acoustics chambers, sound acoustics chambers, EMC test equipment, field range testing, electrical test instrumentation, vibration systems, and assorted measurement transducers
  • Conducts EMC testing of RF emissions, RF sensitivity, radiated and conducted immunity
  • Performs regression testing on products using manual and automated methods
  • Participate in defect analysis, root cause analysis, study product functionality impact, and provides key insight of observed product performance and defects
  • Builds PC boards, modifies and reworks test samples, assists with test fixture builds
  • Works with supervisor to plan schedules, review test procedures, testing methodologies, and provides input for custom test fixture design and automation projects
  • Comply with health and safety guidelines and rules; managers should also ensure compliance across their teams
  • Protect Client reputation by keeping information confidential
Requirements
  • Associates of Applied Science in Engineering or equivalent degree and minimum of two (2) years ofjob related experience strongly preferred; or minimum of six (6) years of job-related experience asdefined in the Essential Duties & Responsibilities; an advanced degree in directly applicable areaof study may substitute for up to two (2) years of experience
  • 2+ years of job-related experience with Associates of Applied Science in Engineering or equivalent degree
  • Excellent understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel; understanding of mechanical, electrical and firmware embedded devices; ability to work within a cross functional teams to createelectro-mechanical products; strong analytical skills; effective communication skills; ability tomulti-task in a fast-paced environment
