Job Purpose:
The Driveline New Product Design Manager is responsible for leading an engineering design team to develop transmissions, transaxles, and steer axles drivetrain components and systems for machinery that feed the world. In this role, you will plan, analyze, design, and support implementation on complex drivetrain systems working multi-functionally with a direct engineering design team, colleagues in driveline engineering / program management, vehicle engineering, component validation, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, service, and driveline / vehicle electronics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a direct team of engineers in the design and delivery of driveline components and systems.
- Promote collaboration within the Driveline design team.
- Position is accountable to meet staffing requirements, team member growth, and development.
- Administer team member performance evaluations (Mid & full year) and provide details for goal setting.
- Work with the Driveline program manager and project planner to prepare development costs, resources requirements (full time & temporary), and project timing.
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams including vehicle platforms, hydraulics, electronics, chassis, etc.
- Compile, maintain, and drive multiple schedules for new product design activities (working with planner).
- Generate and present technical documents including concept / design status, development issues / resolution, and technical risks.
- Design models and perform performance evaluations in the virtual environment using various driveline design methods and software packages.
- Manage engineering bill of materials throughout lifecycle of product development.
- Coordinate release activities of driveline components and support BOM integration at vehicle level.
- Define product card requirements for suppliers of systems and components, participate in technical reviews.
- Define / track Design and Virtual Validation Plan for components and systems.
- Support test activity definition and write test requests for systems and components.
- Lead proactive technical tool reviews such as DFMEA, Concept/Design, and PFMEA.
- Verify designs are efficient in cost, manufacturing, and able to meet quality/durability requirements.
- Create models and drawings in Pro-E for mechanical parts and mechanical component assemblies.
- Responsible for delivering 3D models/2D drawings, considering CNH design guidelines and standards.
- Ensure team follows CNH process for models, assemblies, 2D drawings, and design checklist activities.
- Optional:
Work a hybrid working model, with minimum of 3 days/week working onsite (Tues-Thurs) in Oak Brook with flexibility for additional days onsite for training or other specific business needs.
Experience
Required:
Bachelor's degree with emphasis in mechanical, agricultural, and/ or automotive engineering disciplines. Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience supervising and coordinating engineering teams.
