- Claims & Grant Processing to join our team, rise to the challenge of empowering service, and fill a vital role in our Finance Division team. As an assistant manager, you'll manage the expense claim and grants processing functions as well as compliance across Finance and Operations – ensuring adherence to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Lions International Board Policy.

This role will focus primarily on accuracy of processing, by ensuring processes arestream-linedandappropriate measures are in place to maintain(internal) financial controls and quality control. You'll assist the Accounting Manager and Controller in the annual audit, including coordination of work papers and analysis. You'll also coordinate and collaborate with the Information Technology Division to implement new software platforms/upgrades as needed.

What You’ll Do:
  • Manages employees within the immediate team, Responsibilities include assigning work/projects, review of work product, processes, and financial controls. Development and performance management of direct reports at HQ.
  • Monitors department productivity and quality standards;and resolves operational issues.
  • Monitors improvements to processes, procedures, internal controls and operational practices for the Compliance department and other finance and operational areas.
  • Reports metrics/measurement for processes and productivity within Claims, Compliance, Grants Administration and other areas of finance/operations as needed.
  • Maintains District Budgets, and other Expense budgets (’s, PID’s) as required. Maintains and communicates reporting, trends and analysis on budgets/spend.
  • Maintains information systems such as databases or other programs to manage department information.
  • Maintains quality services by recommending,following and enforcing department and organization standards.
  • Assist with processing and problem-solving if volumes/queries become un-manageable for the team.
  • Prepare and/or reviewreports or other data as necessary to communicate and evaluate information/metrics on a regular basis.
  • Takes on department projects as these arise
  • Serves as advisor and/or provides technical/ supervisory support to others within the finance and operations teams as needed -- educating staff on department polices and procedures.
  • Collaborates with other departments across the organization toidentifyand address opportunities for streamlining and/or improving financial and/or operational processes.
  • Develops and recommends operational standards,policyand/or procedures with guidance from department manager.
  • Develops and administers programs and processes to improve the financialcontrol and compliance environment.
  • Analysescostsand benefits of alternative projects and chooses those that fit association objectives best.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending workshops and training sessions, reviewing professional publications, andparticipatingin professional organizations as appropriate tofield and where necessary.
  • Disseminatesinformation used in decision-making by the Board ora committeeof the Board.
  • Ensures compliance with headquarter human resources policies and procedures
  • Develop sand/orrecommendsupdates to standards and/or policy, including Board Policy, where appropriate, to improve Compliance standards by members and/or staff
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned.
