The Village of Oak Brook's Development Services Department is hiring for the position of Part‑Time Plumbing Inspector.
Reporting to the Chief Building Official, the part‑time Plumbing Inspector ensures public health, safety, and welfare by enforcing local laws, building codes, zoning, and ordinances through property inspections, investigating complaints, issuing citations, educating citizens, and preparing reports, protecting communities from hazards. This position is public facing, with support also being provided to the Development Services Department staff in providing information and assistance to residents, contractors, and other employees.
Key Responsibilities- Inspect residential, commercial, and public properties for compliance with the Plumbing Code.
- Respond to citizen concerns and investigate potential breaches of code.
- Issue warnings, correction notices, citations, and stop‑work orders.
- Maintain records of inspection activity and complete related reports.
- Meet with contractors, homeowners, builders, business people and architects and recommend plan revisions in order to correct problems resulting from code violations, code interpretations or an ambiguity in the approved plans.
Hourly pay range is $35.98 – $48.79 per hour, depending on qualifications.
