The Village of Oak Brook Development Services Department is hiring for the position of Planning Technician (Part Time).

Reporting to the Development Services Director, the part‑time Planning Technician provides advanced administrative and planning work relating to the coordination of all work products and activities of the Development Services Department.

• Serve as primary point of contact for the general public, assisting with submission and processing of applications including special use permits, zoning changes, planned developments, text amendments, subdivisions, and variances; ensure all applications are complete and processed in a timely manner.
• Prepare and manage legal notices for publication in compliance with statutory requirements.
• Coordinate Planning & Zoning Commission meetings by preparing agendas, conducting quorum calls, setting up meeting facilities, and attending regular and special meetings.

• Three (3) years of municipal government experience in a Development Services/Planning‑Zoning Department, with emphasis in zoning ordinance and subdivision regulations.
• Ability to communicate with the general public and members of Boards and Commissions with competence, tact, and discretion on complex issues and difficult work situations.

Hourly pay range is $35.98 to $48.49 per hour with the anticipated hiring rate no higher than mid‑point of the range, depending on qualifications. This part‑time position is IMRF eligible and is expected to work 29 hours weekly. Position open until filled.
