Oakbrook, IL Rate: DOE $/hr. on w2 only Position Type: contract
The focus of the role will be to learn the existing in-house point of sale (POS) and kiosk applications to configure new capabilities to U.S market needs, identify issues/gaps, provide fast fail testing, and document the technical implementation information needed to bring the capability to market. A strong desire to learn and apply knowledge to avoid/resolve problems is desired.
• Act as a subject matter expert on Point-Of-Sale (POS) & Kiosk applications providing technical guidance to varying audiences. Configure features for demos and fast fail testing.
• Investigate QA raised issues to determine if the root cause is application configuration.
• Collaborate with remote software development resources in Brazil regarding software features.
• Provide level-3.5 issue triage to get to root cause to move to development team for fixes.
• Document technical design specifications for U.S. change requests.
• Assess effectiveness of the technical solution and processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Perform other duties as required.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems
- Knowledge of software engineering concepts (requirements management, development methodologies, testing and documentation) and an understanding of how technology applies to business concepts.
- Advanced troubleshooting capabilities to break down complex problems to get to root cause.
- Experience using and developing with different data structures such as XML or JSON.
- Experience with SQL and ability to create reports and stored procedures.
- Documenting process & technical flows
- Basic networking skills.
- Knowledge of Win7+ and Windows Server 2012+
- Desire and aptitude to learn new technologies and apply them to day-to-day responsibilities.
- Previous programming/development experience (C# /.NET preferred)
- Experience with Microsoft Visual Studio.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (JavaScript, VBScript, etc.).
- Experience using a source control system such as Subversion, Team Foundation Server, Git
- Familiarity with defect tracking systems such as TFS or Jira.
- Experience using iPhone or Android to help support Mobile efforts.
- Knowledge of Agile and Dev Ops
