Job Description

Client Management Specialist II is an advanced role directly above the Client Management Specialist I role. A candidate must have demonstrated proficiency in the Client Management Specialist I role, possess a greater level of analytical ability, and have an advanced skill set. Responsibilities include completing inventory reconciliation for customers independently of the Inventory Team and demonstrating an aptitude for retailer compliance requirements.

Job Functions
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the Client Management Specialist I role.
  • Develop strong working relationships with customer accounts and provide timely resolution of issues and concerns with limited management intervention.
  • Proactively assess customer needs and act as the point person in developing and managing account specifications and procedures that ensure quality, efficiency, and profitability.
  • Proactively manage daily order‑level data; recommend improvements and implement changes.
  • Receive, analyze, and respond to a high volume of communication each day.
  • Manage the order process flow to contract specifications.
  • Increase knowledge of retailer compliance and best practices; provide compliance‑related guidance during client communication.
  • Ensure optimal delivery performance by selecting the best carrier and managing the tracking process.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy with minimal management intervention; perform inventory audits, record results, and measure trends.
  • Manage, monitor, and report on order acceptance, order maintenance, and accessorial management via email, phone, and various Hub Group transportation management systems.
  • Offer alternative transportation solutions as necessary by analyzing internal and external account metrics.
  • Manage assigned customer accounts to ensure they receive the best product at the lowest possible cost; maximize margin, network efficiency, and On‑Time Performance (OTP).
  • Determine billable accessorial charges, follow company processes, minimize disputes, assist in collections, and collaborate with Account Managers to reduce accessorial charges.
  • Communicate with shippers and consignees regarding exception notifications and problem resolution.
  • Maximize Hub profitability and reduce customer cost exposure by managing assets such as container pools with Operations.
  • Maintain quality service by monitoring standards and advising supervisors of potential problems; work with Manager, Account Management, and Operations Group to resolve single‑load concerns promptly.
  • Duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or changed from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or management preferred.
  • One year of experience in the CMS I role or equivalent experience in the transportation industry preferred.
  • Experience with EDI processes, web tender portals, and other electronic communication forms preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, especially Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Highly effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, and customer focus.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills with the ability to inspire creative solutions to challenging situations.
  • Strong talent for multitasking and managing competing priorities effectively.
  • Ability to identify and assess customers’ needs and craft compelling solutions.
  • Self‑directed yet a strong team player.
  • Minimal travel may be required.
Salary

Up to $50,000/year base salary + Bonus Eligibility. This is an estimated range based on the circumstances at the time of posting; it may change based on skills, experience, education, market factors, geographical location, budget, and demand.
