Optician - Oak Brook

Summary

The Optician delivers exceptional customer service and technical eyewear expertise on the sales floor by guiding customers through frame selection, measurements, fitting, and follow up. This role supports store results by operating the point of sale, troubleshooting optical issues, and serving as a technical resource and mentor to colleagues. The Optician ensures finished eyewear meets optical standards and provides an elevated customer experience.

• Provide personalized customer service and follow the sales and service process to drive satisfaction and sales.
• Take and record measurements, adjust and fit eyewear accurately, and ensure finished products meet optical standards.
• Operate the point of sale to input customer and prescription information and process payments securely.
• Troubleshoot customer issues and use technology to support patient and customer experiences.
• Educate customers on eyewear care, guarantees, complimentary adjustments, and follow up services.
• Serve as a location center of excellence and technical resource, mentoring and developing the optical skills of others.
• Maintain store appearance and visual displays according to planograms and promote a safe working environment.

• State licensure where applicable and/or ABO Certification in non licensed states.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Knowledge of optical theory, dispensing, and current merchandise assortment.
• Experience with inventory management systems and operating a tablet or POS technology.
• Strong communication and listening skills and awareness of current fashion trends.
• Preferred candidates actively studying for certification or with optical dispensing and retail customer service experience.
