Software Integration Engineer - Oak Brook, IL
What you will be doing:- Assist lead software engineers and be responsible for integrating and building software in CI/CD pipelines for Yocto-based Linux builds, as well as supporting software/system integration.
- Work cohesively as a member of a development team, collaborating as needed with other team members with the end goal of maximizing quality and delivering on schedule.
- Design, implement, and maintain Yocto-based build systems for embedded Linux projects.
- Customize and optimize Linux distributions using Yocto tools and recipes.
- Collaborate with software developers, hardware engineers, and QA teams to ensure successful integration of software components.
- Monitor and optimize pipeline performance, security, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot build issues and provide timely resolution.
- Implement artifact management, version control policies, and reproducible builds.
- Automate the generation of release notes and a comprehensive changelog detailing all user‑centric software modifications.
- Stay current with industry trends and advancements in Yocto Project and embedded Linux development.
- Travel, as necessary, to supplier facilities, test facilities, and customer field sites to gather data, resolve problems, and explore software design alternatives.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar field.
- Minimum 3 years of embedded software development experience.
- Proficient in C/C++ programming and Git.
- Experience building and operating CI/CD pipeline automation, log analysis, and monitoring for embedded systems (Yocto project-built systems).
- Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and VM.
- Knowledge of CMake build system for C++ applications.
- Travel up to 10% of the time, both domestic and international.
- Experience with Agile working methods (Scrum, Kanban, or SAFe).
- Knowledge of the QT framework.
- Knowledge of automotive or industrial machinery.
- Knowledge of tracking systems such as Polarion ALM or Atlassian Jira.
- Automotive embedded software experience.
