Data Engineer, Data Analyst
What You Will Do
This hybrid on‑site position is located at our headquarters in Oak Creek, WI. You will report directly to the Manager, Business Intelligence & Data Science.
How You Will Do It- Create and maintain conceptual, logical, and physical data models for various data initiatives, including transactional systems, data warehouses, data lakes, and data marts.
- Translate complex business requirements and rules into clear, concise, and accurate data structures.
- Determine appropriate data modeling techniques (e.g., relational, dimensional, No
SQL) based on business needs and technical constraints. - Work closely with business stakeholders, data architects, data engineers, ETL developers, and data analysts to gather requirements, validate designs, and ensure alignment across data initiatives.
- Facilitate discussions and workshops to define data entities, attributes, relationships, and business rules.
- Data Governance & Standards:
- Define and enforce data modeling standards, naming conventions, and best practices to ensure consistency and maintainability across the enterprise.
- Contribute to the development and management of data dictionaries, glossaries, and metadata repositories.
- Optimization & Performance:
- Collaborate with database administrators and data engineers to optimize data models for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Advise on indexing strategies, partitioning, and other physical design considerations.
- Data Quality & Integrity:
- Ensure data models support data quality initiatives by incorporating appropriate constraints, validation rules, and integrity checks.
- Understand and document data lineage to track data flow from source to consumption.
- Evaluation & Improvement:
- Review existing data models and databases for variances, discrepancies, and opportunities for optimization.
- Stay current with industry trends and emerging data modeling tools and methodologies.
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or another related quantitative field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum three years of professional experience as a Data Modeler, Data Architect, or a similar role with a strong focus on data modeling.
- Expertise in designing and implementing conceptual, logical, and physical data models.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data definition, manipulation, and querying.
- Proven experience with industry-standard data modeling tools (e.g., ERwin Data Modeler, SAP Power Designer, ER/Studio, Lucidchart).
- Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with dimensional modeling (Star Schema, Snowflake Schema).
- Familiarity with various database technologies (e.g., relational databases like Postgre
SQL, MySQL, SQL Server; No
SQL databases; cloud data warehouses like Big Query). - Experience with data modeling in cloud environments (e.g., Google Cloud Platform, AWS, Azure).
- Master's degree in a relevant field.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and metadata management platforms.
- Experience working with E.R.P. Systems (SAP, MS Dynamics, Oracle, etc..) IFS ERP systems experience is preferred.
- Familiarity with ETL/ELT processes and how data models support data pipelines.
- Experience in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Certifications in data modeling or related data management field.
