Description

The Supply Chain Manager will have overall responsibility for supervising the process of sourcing and purchasing essential materials for Suzy’s operations. Reporting directly to the Chief Strategy Officer, the Supply Chain Manager’s duties include researching raw materials suppliers and comparing costs, negotiating purchase agreements, requesting, and maintaining food safety documentation, and developing inventory controls to identify demand for new materials.

Responsibilities
  • Source potential suppliers, manage supplier relationships, and conduct successful contract negotiations for food and other related categories.
  • Understand all product offerings, packaging, and pricing.
  • Monitor compliance of supplier contracts, pricing agreements, specifications, onboarding documents and all related activities.
  • Order inventory from vendors and secure shipment arrival times.
  • Identify gaps in product categories; work to find new vendors/products available.
  • Conduct research on potential products and vendors, comparing price and quality to ensure the best deal.
  • Perform daily inventory checks to place orders for refilling stock.
  • Conduct weekly inventory audits.
  • Inspect purchased products upon delivery and report any issues in a timely manner.
  • Update all records of purchased products.
  • Help manage and support daily logistics including daily transfers and customer shipments from multiple off‑site warehouses.
  • Assist various teams (Accounting, HR, Sales, Customer Service, Operations, Warehouse, Inventory) with daily tasks and projects.
  • Create physical vendor check‑in flow.
  • Establish and implement vendor check‑in times.
  • Communicate with vendors on delivery days regarding issues, exceptions, etc.
  • Manage vendor issues log and reconciliations.
  • Handle supplier non‑conformances and issue Supplier Corrective Action Reports (SCARs).
  • Onboard new vendors into the program.
  • Manage Vendor Agreement for the pre‑order market.
  • Assist different types and sizes of vendors, addressing challenges with each.
  • Review vendor listings and identify/correct any misleading or mislabeled information.
  • Enforce basic food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications Education

BS degree in Supply Chain and/or Management.

Experience and Training

Food manufacturing experience with at least 3‑5 years in a commercial food or bakery plant or restaurant leadership role with increasing managerial responsibilities.

Skills and Knowledge
  • Basic math skills/proficiency required.
  • Proficient with computers (MS Office) and basic office technologies.
  • Must communicate via email, utilize the Internet & ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software programs.
  • Ability to communicate in a professional manner.
  • Superior organizational skills.
  • Ability to work as a contributing member within a team.
Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly manages the Jr. Buyer position.
