We're seeking a Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead our client's sourcing initiatives, develop supplier strategies, drive cost reduction efforts, and manage key supplier relationships supporting complex manufactured products. This is a highly visible role that works closely with engineering, operations, quality, finance, and supply chain leadership to ensure suppliers deliver the quality, performance, and value our business requires.

This position offers the opportunity to manage approximately $20M-$30M in annual spend
, influence sourcing decisions across multiple facilities, and play a direct role in supporting the development and production of sophisticated equipment used in demanding industrial environments.

What You'll Own
  • Manage approximately $20M-$30M in annual supplier spend across assigned commodities and suppliers
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies that support business objectives for cost, quality, and delivery
  • Lead RFQ activities, supplier evaluations, negotiations, and sourcing decisions
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while holding suppliers accountable for performance
  • Partner closely with engineering teams to support sourcing of technical and engineered products
  • Drive supplier cost-reduction initiatives and continuous improvement activities
  • Support supplier qualification, development, and performance management efforts
  • Evaluate supplier capabilities and identify opportunities to improve supply chain resiliency
  • Analyze spend data and supplier performance metrics to support strategic decision-making
  • Influence sourcing decisions across multiple manufacturing locations
What You'll Be Working With

This role supports a broad range of engineered products and components for maintenance of way and rail infrastructure equipment, including but not limited to:

  • Operator cabs
  • Engines and power systems
  • Electrical and electronic components
  • Complex assemblies
  • Fabricated and engineered products

Success in this position requires the ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, understand technical requirements, and work with suppliers to develop practical sourcing solutions.

Key Responsibilities Strategic Sourcing
  • Identify, evaluate, and qualify new suppliers
  • Develop sourcing strategies for assigned commodities
  • Lead supplier selection and sourcing decisions
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and commercial agreements
  • Partner with corporate sourcing teams to leverage preferred supplier relationships
  • Establish supplier performance goals and scorecards
  • Lead supplier business reviews and performance discussions
  • Drive corrective actions and supplier improvement plans
  • Resolve supplier quality and delivery issues impacting the business
  • Build long-term strategic supplier partnerships
Cost Reduction & Analytics
  • Lead commodity cost reduction projects
  • Analyze supplier spend, inflation trends, and sourcing opportunities
  • Identify supplier consolidation opportunities
  • Support annual cost savings objectives and budget management
  • Manage supplier pricing and contract compliance
  • Track spend versus forecast and support working capital initiatives
Engineering & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Work closely with engineering teams on new product development and engineering changes
  • Support prototype sourcing and new supplier introductions
  • Facilitate technical discussions between suppliers and engineering teams
  • Collaborate with operations, quality, finance, materials, and supply chain teams to drive results
We're Most Interested In Candidates Who Have
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and manufacturing experience
  • 5+ years of sourcing, procurement, commodity management, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment
